Have you ever been scrolling social media and suddenly realized you're already at the checkout page for something you didn’t even plan to buy?

Yeah… me too.

And I’m actually pretty picky about how I spend money, so when that happens I always find myself wondering one thing:

How did they do that?

Instead of just brushing it off, I started using AI to figure it out.

As someone who runs multiple businesses while homeschooling and living on a farm, I don’t have endless hours to study marketing strategies or psychology. But I do have a really powerful assistant in my pocket. And it turns out AI is incredible at breaking down the mechanics behind ads, websites, and sales pages.

The Simple Trick I Use

Whenever I see an ad or a sales page that pulls me in, I’ll do one of two things:

• Screenshot the ad

• Screenshot the sales page

Then I upload that image to my AI assistant and ask something like: “Can you break down the psychology behind this page?”

From there I start asking questions like:

• Why did they choose these colors?

• Why is the button placed there?

• What emotions is this copy speaking to?

• What pain points are being addressed?

• Why are the testimonials placed in that spot?

And the breakdown is honestly fascinating. AI can point out patterns in layout, emotional triggers in the wording, and even the psychological reasons certain colors or design choices were made.

The Most Interesting Part

Because my AI assistant already understands my business and my audience, I can take it a step further and ask: “Why did this page specifically attract me?” That’s where things get really insightful. It can often identify the exact pain point or desire that the marketing was speaking to. And once you understand that, you can start asking: “How could I apply this idea to my own business in an honest and helpful way?” Not just copying but understanding the principles behind what works.

Learning the Other Side Too

What’s equally helpful is doing the same thing with pages that give you the “ick.” If I see a sales page that feels manipulative or overly pushy, I’ll screenshot that too and ask AI:

“Why did this feel off to me?” Sometimes we have gut reactions to things but can’t fully explain why. AI can help identify whether it’s the tone, the pressure tactics, the emotional manipulation, or something else entirely. And that kind of awareness helps you avoid building sales pages that feel that way in your own business.

Why This Matters for Mom Entrepreneurs

Most of us didn’t start businesses because we wanted to become marketing experts. We started them because we wanted meaningful work that still allowed us to be present for our families. Using AI this way gives you a shortcut to understanding marketing strategy without spending years studying it. And the best part? You still stay in control. AI becomes the research assistant. You’re still the decision maker. 💛
